Stubborn

Lovebird is definitely winning the award for "Most Stubborn" child.  She lives up to her names meaning of Princess.  She is now 18 months old and at her well baby check up was refusing to walk.  Now we knew she could do it.  We had seen her do it.  If she felt like it or something was being offered that she really wanted.  She also wasn't using as many words as she should have been.  Why use words when shrieking at the top of your lungs and pointing always gets an immediate response from an older sibling?  He asked me if I wanted to have a First Steps consultation.  Thankfully he's the father of 5 and really was relaxed about the whole thing and trusts my judgement.  I told him if she wasn't walking or talking more by 20 months then I would consider it.  I told him I think she is just stubborn and really just chooses not to walk and talk.  To which Lovebird immediately looked straight at him, smiled big, and shook her head yes!  He looked at me and said, "I would definitely agree.  I think she is fine."  Oh and she started to choose to walk and talk a few days after that appointment.  She obviously didn't want people to think she was not living up to what those medical books say she should be accomplishing.

I'm Not Complaining

So for weeks I've tried to get back to blogging. I feel like I go straight from fall to spring. And partly that's because we did! The winter was so mild and we really didn't have much snow or cold. Being a hot weather person I am definitely not complaining. I must admit though that I just feel like my body can't figure out this new Midwest climate. I'm sure pregnancy isn't helping. My daffodils were up be the middle of March. Right now we are enjoying the colorful tulips.

On March 18th we were out playing mini golf........... with no jackets on.


Yes, on March 20th we had our first Family Beach Night. This is absurd! We normally are ecstatic if it is warm enough to start these by the middle of May! It was beautiful and the kids couldn't get enough sun, sand, and waves. It has cooled down in the past few weeks but most days still seem warmer than usual. I'll take this nice weather! I suppose if this is the new Midwest winter I may be able to handle it.

Too Much Birthday

Well I think this picture doesn't need much explanation. Lovebird was a tad out of the ordinary the day after her big day and pretty much screamed every time I put her down to clean up anything.

The Big First Birthday

Lovebird enjoyed a very relaxing first birthday that included snacking on her favorite snacks, reading books, going for a walk, taking some pictures, and getting to eat her first slice of cheese pizza. We then had a few family members come over for cake and gifts.
The "easy" cake I had planned turned out to be a tad more difficult than expected but the end result was great.
The birthday girl changed into her "cake eating" outfit and was all set. Yes there were a few wardrobe changes throughout the night because mommy couldn't decide on just one outfit. So there was a "Meet my Guests" outfit, a "cake eating" outfit, and then a casual "End the Night" outfit. It did feel a little Academy Award but she was cute in them all.

"Ummmm......why are you setting my cake on fire?"

"Oh dear, now they're singing.....all on different keys."

"Maybe if I clap for them they will stop."

"Oh good, the clapping worked."

Now I wish I could say that she dove in.......but she barely touched the thing. It may have been she was full from her earlier dinner of her first piece of cheese pizza or maybe she just wanted to be a lady and not make a pig of herself but she didn't smear cake everywhere like I was expecting.

I think she was more concerned about getting back to work on her new laptop.

3:04pm on 11/15/2011: Exactly 1 year old

Almost 1!

In another month we will be celebrating a first birthday.
And I'm not ready for it! Just like I'm not ready for little Lovebird to be crawling all over the place like she is.
But I can't wait for the birthday and I know that this one is not going to disappoint us in the cake smashing.

Derby Worthy

I think we need to head to Kentucky because this hat is most definitely Derby worthy. Don't you think so?

My How You've Grown, Lovebird!

So I haven't had a Lovebird post in a few months and my has she grown!
She loves playing outside and loves playing with her older brother and sisters.
Lovebird has mobilized! She isn't up on all fours all the time and she still prefers her perfected scoot and roll technique.
She is taking after her older sister Cuddlebug and is having some of the same eating and food issues but she is continuing to grow and that makes us happy. She does love to eat!
At 10 months she weighs 16lbs. 14oz. and is the tenth percentile. She is such a little peanut!
Lovebird enjoys playing with her cousins and she's learning the word "gentle".
She loves practicing her standing skills......but I'm in no rush for my baby to start walking!
Lovebird went from having no teeth to 4 teeth in a matter of a few weeks. She is growing up quickly and that first birthday is fast approaching.

You Know You're a 4th Child

You know you're a 4th child when........you get put into a diaper box because your big sister made a crib out of it for you.
You know you're a 4th child when.........instead of your mommy rescuing you......she grabs the camera so she can get pictures first.

5 Months

Lovebird is 5 months old and growing cuter by the minute. She has turned into the laid back, loves everyone kind of baby. She is pretty much smiling all the time unless she is hungry. So there have been a few times when she was seeming that she wasn't getting enough to eat and daddy was pushing to feed her some solids. She has been completely enthralled by everyone eating around her so we gave it a try.
She didn't hesitate to take her first bite of the Organic Brown Rice cereal.
At first I thought she was going to like it.

"This stuff is awful!"

I have mixed some banana's into the cereal which she liked better. She doesn't have solids daily yet and only gets them when it seems like she's not getting enough from nursing. But soon the baby food making will begin!

4 Months

So I've been taking the day to catch up on blogging and realized I had never finished Lovebird's 4 month post. She is still quite the happy baby. She's sleeping well at night and eating like a champ. Prince Charming and I are getting a little concerned she's not getting quite enough milk so we may start her on solids at 5 months instead of 6. We don't want the same thing to happen like it did with Cuddlebug. Lovebird loves sitting in her Bumbo chair and started rolling over. She doesn't do it often because she doesn't like being on her belly.
Just like the rest of the family she is not fond of cold weather. Anything under 55 degrees is considered cold weather in my book.
She is still such a peanut but incredibly strong. The Dr. was amazed at her strength at her check up. She weighed in at 13 lbs 6oz and was 26"long. She also received one immunization and barely flinched for it. Crying is for babies you know.

Hot Shot

So this little hot shot rolled over from her back to her tummy yesterday. She even got her arm out from under her right away and pushed up as if to say, "What do you think I am, a newborn?". Later in the day she tried it again but couldn't get that arm out from under herself. Completely frustrated and irate would be an understatement on her feelings about the issue.

3 Months

Our little Lovebird is 3 months old! She is past the fussiness of her newborn days and is more adorable by the day. She still loves to be on the move whether it's in her swing, bouncy seat, stroller, or the Baby Bjorn.
She gives us the biggest toothless smiles and has started to laugh.
She is still little and is wearing 0-3 month clothes and probably will be for awhile.
Lovebird is also learning to love tummy time.....sort of. She is VERY strong and can already scoot herself. It's never in any intentional direction but the mobility is definitely starting. Mommy and Daddy are not ready for this! She still prefers to be upright rather than on her tummy and has started to master sitting in the Bumbo chair. It is quite the work out for those little stomach muscles but everyday she can sit longer and longer in it. She has also started to love bath time and will kick and squeal with delight when she's in the water. I can't wait to take her swimming this summer. She's getting so big!

2 months

Lovebird is two months old and I don't want to believe it. She has gone from fussy most of the time to very content in what seems like overnight. Don't get me wrong, she still has her fussy moments but who doesn't? She weighed in at 11lbs 2oz at her check. Which is hilarious to me because she just now is starting to outgrow her newborn clothes and the 0-3 month attire is finally not humongous on her. I'm not quite sure where she is hiding that 11lbs! She has started pushing herself up during tummy time. That is when she isn't protesting tummy time. She is also the girl of a million expressions just like her older sister.

She can go from the frowny face........(This one is especially for you Liz. I know how much you love the frowny face.)

B.W. almost always brings a smile though with his silly faces. She adores her brother so.
